Tiyatro ile Lise yıllarında tanışmış, 1990 senesinde amatör tiyatroya başlamıştır. Aile Kökeni Gürcistan'a dayanan Gürkan Uygun aslen Ordu'ludur. Lise yıllarında tiyatro yapmaya başlayan Gürkan Uygun, bu sevdası uğruna 1993 yılında İstanbul’a yerleşti. Dormen Tiyatro’sunda eğitim alan Gürkan Uygun, İstanbul Üniversitesi Devlet Konservatuarı Tiyatro bölümünden mezundur. 2008 yılında Şebnem Ceylan ile evlenen oyuncunun bu evliliğinden Mihriban Balım isminde bir kızı ve Ateş isminde bir oğlu vardır. ...
